Metal plaques and medallions depicting mythological scenes were used to decorate the clothing of members of the elite. The figures represented were very important because they indicated the role of the wearer within society. Some of them represent mythological themes such as a rampant feline, the decapitator god or other characters with supernatural features.
Emblematic copper plaques and medallions made using the techniques of hammering and cutting (Mochica), and casting through the lost wax technique (Chimú).
